The Smashing New Horror Series Stephen King is Recommending

The world of television horror is experiencing a boom as hit shows like Midnight Mass, American Horror Stories, and Castle Rock become increasingly popular. A new horror show that hasn’t gotten much love is Chapelwaite on EPIX. The series stars Adrien Brody as Captain Charles Boone and is based on the short story Jerusalem Lot by Stephen King.

The show is about a ship captain, played by Brody, who returns home to Preacher’s Corners, a small town in Maine, after the death of his wife. The captain’s dark family history haunts him and his children again.

King’s adaptations haven’t always been successful, but he’s on a roll with recent shows The Outsider, The Stand, and the aforementioned Castle Rock. It looks like Chapelwaite could be another hit for King. The writer is not afraid to tear down an adaptation of his work, as we saw with Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 adaptation of The Shining. However, Chapelwaite already has the King’s seal of approval. He took to Twitter to praise the series.

King obviously has a keen interest in making the series a success, but he also has a lot of credibility in the horror community. Despite its connection to the show, it might be worth watching with King’s approval.
